Jets drop!

Riddell will drop the 2024 Jets alternate. I am excited for this one as the Jets have so many alternates and throwbacks to choose from:

The facemask on the pocket helmet appears to be a darker green than the brighter green the Jets actually wore. Otherwise, it looks pretty sharp.

My next post will cover the new Rivalries Uniform releases in 2025. Thanks to fellow collector Micheal Dole for letting me know!

One thought on “Jets drop!

  1. When I bought my Jets helmet today, I decided to read the brief description that Riddell always includes for the helmets. While it said they started wearing it in 2024, it also described a forest green facemask as one of the features. That’s the first I’ve ever seen that description of green for any Jets helmet. The 1998-2018 helmet/uniform was Hunter Green, the short-lived 2019-2023 set was Gotham Green, while the current unis that debuted last year has Legacy Green.

It’s possible that Riddell was just simply unable to match the exact green color for the facemask, but I’m not sure if that’s the case. I’m wondering if maybe the answer lies in what you mentioned in your post about the Rivalries uniforms? Since the AFC East will be one of the two divisions kicking off these uniform sets in 2025, the Jets will be one of those teams wearing them. I wonder if the forest green facemask perhaps could be a preview of what the Jets will wear with their Rivalries uniform? The other seven teams in 2024 only had an alternate (Cardinals), a throwback (Dolphins, Patriots, Seahawks, 49ers) or just simply went with their primary (Bills, Rams). I imagine each of them may debut a new alternate to wear with these uniforms later this year. But since the Jets added both the throwback and alternate last year with the entire uniform set change, maybe they used the green pictured above for last season’s alternate and maybe they simply switched the facemask color this year to go better with whatever their Rivalries uniform will look like?

Just speculation, but I can’t help but think there’s an legitimate reason for the different shade of green.
