1919-51 Leather Helmets

  • 1921-31: Dark brown, six strap
  • 1932-33: Navy bottom, yellow/navy top, six strap
  • 1934: Wing front, blue stripes
  • 1935-36: Tan, square front, three strap (green)
  • 1935: Tan, square front, green bottom, three strap
  • 1937-40: Yellow, standard, three strap
  • 1941-51: Yellow, shield front

1951-60

Four types of helmets predate the familiar Packers helmet with the “G” logo. Riddell did not manufacture pocket pros for these helmets. They have varying types of facemasks (see checklist at bottom).

  1. 1951-53: Tan, green stripe
  2. 1954-57: Yellow, green stripe
  3. 1956-58: Plain white helmet with dark green stripe
  4. 1959-60: Plain yellow helmet with green-white-green stripes

1961-79

There are only two types of pocket pro styles for the Packers, and the only difference between them is the color of the facemask. This version has a grey facemask and is in the Throwback Series 1, Throwback Series 2, Throwback NFL 1969 2-bar, and Throwback 2-bar sets.

The 1969 2-bar throwback helmet has the Riddell logo in all caps (RIDDELL). The regular Throwback 2-bar helmet has some cursive font (RIDDell). See the Throwback NFC 1969 site for more information.

1980-present

In 1980, Green Bay changed the facemask to a green color. This style helmet is in the traditional, revolution, and speed sets.

This helmet was included in the four-piece super bowl Packers set.

Packers Pocket Pro Super Bowl Helmets

There are six Packers Super Bowl pocket pro helmets:

  1. Super Bowl 1 (red font), 2-bar style – from SB 1-16 piece super bowl set
  2. Super Bowl 1 (white font), 2-bar style – from SB 1-40 piece super bowl set
  3. Super Bowl 1, traditional style – from 4-piece Packers team super bowl set
  4. Super Bowl 2, 2-bar style – from SB 1-16 piece and SB 1-40 piece sets
  5. Super Bowl 2, traditional style – from 4-piece Packers team super bowl set
  6. Super Bowl 31, traditional style – from SB 17-32 and SB 1-40 sets
